1839 König Ludwig I.

1839 König Ludwig I. äußert gegenüber Joseph Anton von Maffei den Wunsch nach einem erstklassigen Hotel. Maffei beauftragt damit Friedrich von Gärtner, den Lieblingsarchitekten des Königs. At the behest of King Ludwig I, Joseph Anton von Maffei commissions Friedrich von Gärtner, the king’s favorite architect, to build a hotel. 1841 Das Hotel Bayerischer eröffnet am 15. Oktober. Maffei bleibt bis zu seinem Tod der Pächter des Hauses. The Hotel Bayerischer Hof opens on October 15th. Maffei stays on as tenant until his death. 1897 Herrmann Volkhardt kauft das Hotel Bayerischer Hof für 2.850.000 Goldmark, dazu weitere Immobilien, und erweitert es. Hermann Volkhardt purchases the Hotel Bayerischer Hof for no less than 2,850,000 goldmarks, buys further properties and expands the hotel. 1909 Herrmann Volkhardt stirbt am Weihnachtsabend. Sein Sohn Hermann übernimmt das Haus und führt es durch Kriege und Krisen. Sohn Wilhelm übernimmt indes die 1903 gegründete Weinhandlung Volkhardt. After the untimely death of Herrmann Volkhardt on Christmas Eve, his son Hermann took over at the helm of the hotel. His son Wilhelm took over the wine wholesale business, established in 1903. 1944 Bomben zerstören das Haus in der Nacht zum 25. April nahezu komplett, nur der Spiegelsaal bleibt erhalten. Bombs completely destroy the hotel in the night of April 25th, except for the hall of mirrors. 1945 Falk Volkhardt kehrt aus dem Krieg zurück und unterstützt seinen Vater beim Wiederaufbau. Im Oktober eröffnet er im Spiegelsaal Münchens erstes Speiserestaurant nach dem Krieg. Falk Volkhardt returns from the war and supports his father during the rebuilding. Sein Sohn Falk übernimmt das Haus am Promenadeplatz in der dritten Generation sowie die Weinhandlung. Hermann Volkhardt dies. His son Falk takes over the hotel at the Promenadeplatz as third generation as well as the wine wholesale business. 1969 Das Hotel Bayerischer Hof wird um das Palais Montgelas erweitert, im selben Jahr erwirbt Falk Volkhardt auch das Hotel Zur Tenne in Kitzbühel. The Hotel Bayerischer Hof gains the Palais Montgelas as its handsome annexe, in the same year Falk Volkhardt purchases the Hotel Zur Tenne in Kitzbuhel. 1972 Die Renovierung des Palais Montgelas wird zur Eröffnung der Olympischen Spiele abgeschlossen und feierlich eröffnet. The refurbishment of the Palais Montgelas is completed in time for the Olympic Games and the building celebrates its grand opening. 1974 Das Hotel wird Mitglied von „The Leading Hotels of the World“ und, als erstes deutsches Haus, von „Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide“. The hotel becomes a member of „The Leading Hotels of the World“ and is the first of its class in Germany to be named as one of the „Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide“. 1992 Innegrit Volkhardt übernimmt die Leitung des Hotels Bayerischer Hof in der vierten Generation und entwirft einen Modernisierungsplan. Seither wird am Promenadeplatz kontinuierlich umgebaut und renoviert, das Gesamtvolumen der Investitionen beträgt bis 2020 über 180 Millionen Euro. Auch das Hotel Zur Tenne in Kitzbühel und die Weinhandlung Volkhardts Wein in Pasing werden modernisiert. Innegrit Volkhardt takes charge of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof as the fourth generation of the family and draws up a modernisation plan. Refurbishment and renovation work has been going on ever since, with the total volume of the investments standing at Euro 180 million in 2020. The Hotel Zur Tenne in Kitzbuhel has also been modernised as well, as has the wine wholesale business Volkhardts Wein in Pasing. 2005 Das Haus wird um die siebte Etage aufgestockt, Andrée Putman realisiert das Blue Spa über den Dächern Münchens. An extra storey was built onto the hotel in 2005 and Andrée Putman completes the Blue Spa above the Munich skyline. 2009 Axel Vervoordt, einer der einflussreichsten Interior Designer der Gegenwart übernimmt zum ersten Mal in seiner Karriere einen Auftrag für ein Hotel und gestaltet die beiden Restaurants Garden und Atelier. The renowned interior designer Axel Vervoordt takes over a hotel project for the first time in his career and designs the restaurants Garden and Atelier. Already in the first year after its opening, the restaurant Atelier is awarded with a Michelin star and 17 Gault Millau points. 2011 Das hauseigene Kino, die astor@ Cinema Lounge, wird eröffnet und Gäste genießen erstmals Film- und Kinogenuss auf bequemen Lounge- Sofas. The hotel’s very own cinema, the astor@Cinema Lounge opens and guests get to experience the movies on cozy lounge sofas. 2013 Der Dachgarten und die Dachgarten Lounge wurden vom Designduo Sanjit Manku realisiert, welches seit mehr als 15 Jahren erfolgreich zusammen arbeitet und ansonsten in Metropolen wie Paris, Tokyo oder auch Singapur namenhafte Projekte verwirklicht. The design duo Sanjit Manku, which has been working together successfully for years on wellknown projects in Paris, Tokyo and Singapore, now takes on one of the finest projects in Munich – the Roof Garden and Roof Garden Lounge at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. 2016 Die Palaishalle und der angrenzende Alkoven wurden vom belgischen Interior Designer Axel Vervoordt grundlegend erneuert und zu einer multifunktionalen Veranstaltungs-Location mit zeitloser Patina umgestaltet. The Palaishall and the nearby Alcove are renewed by the Belgian interior designer Axel Vervoordt and transformed into a multifunctional event hall with a timeless Patina. 2017 Im Restaurant Atelier beweisen Jan Hartwig und sein Team, dass Genuss auch auf dem Teller zum Kunstwerk werden kann und so erhält das Atelier seinen dritten Michelin Stern. Atelier‘s head chef Jan Hartwig and his team turn culinary perfection into fine art and thereby are awarded with the third Michelin star. 2018 Nach 17 Monaten Bauarbeit wurde der Süd- und Nordflügel zu Beginn des Jahres eröffnet. Axel Vervoordt entwarf insgesamt 29 neue Deluxe Zimmer und Junior Suiten, inklusive der Penthouse Garden Suite. Die Suite umfasst auf 350 Quadratmetern das gesamte achte Stockwerk, umgeben von einer weitläufigen Dachterrasse mit spektakulärem Blick über München. After 17 months of construction work the new South and North Wing are opened at the beginning of the year. Axel Vervoordt designed a total of 29 new Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites, including the Penthouse Garden Suite. With a size of 350 sqm it represents the highlight of the new part of the building. The 360° terrace offers a breathtaking view over Munich. 2019 Mit der Renovierung des Restaurants Palais Kellers ist ein Stück Tradition mit der Gegenwart verbunden worden. Der Interior Designer Axel Vervoordt lässt das historische Gewölbe in neuem Glanz erstrahlen, ohne seinen einzigartigen Charme zu verändern und schafft dabei einen Ort, der zum Verweilen einlädt. With the renovation of the restaurant Palais Keller, a piece of tradition has been combined with the presence. Interior designer Axel Vervoordt lets the historic vault shine in new splendour without changing its unique charm and creates a place, which invites guests to stay a little longer. 2020 Axel Vervoordt renovierte mit viel Gefühl für Formen und Farben die 14 Veranstaltungsräume im Palais Montgelas. Gekonnt verband er dabei den historischen Palais Charakter mit der Individualität jedes einzelnen Raumes. Es entstand eine Symbiose zwischen zeitloser Klassik und dem einzigartigen Stil des belgischen Interior Designers. Axel Vervoordt renovated the 14 event rooms in the Palais Montgelas with a great sense for form and colour. He skilfully combined the historic Palais character with the individuality of each room. The result is a symbiosis between timeless classicism and the unique style of the Belgian interior designer.
